One of the common “competing priorities” is safety and productivity. However, in reality, both are critical to be accomplished at the same time. At the same time, there is always one that will win out over the other. In this case it is safety.
When it is effectiveness versus efficiency, it is important what each actually means. In other words, if I were to achieve both effectiveness and efficiency at the highest level of success possible for the customer and for our profitability, what would that look like. If we couldn’t accomplish the highest level, but wanted to go down to the next desired level, what would that be? Most likely, you aren’t choosing one or the other but different combinations of both that are practical and desired at the same time.
